今日は、アメリカ方言学会が２００６年の単語として、動詞の"pluto"
が選ばれました。
その発表文を紹介します。
demote 〜の階級を下げる、地位を下げる、降格する
devalue （通貨）の平価を切り下げる、（人、作品など）をけなす
「"pluto(動詞)"
は、国際天文学連合総会が冥王星がもはや惑星の定義を満たしていないと
決めた時に、以前惑星だった冥王星に起こったように、誰かまたは何かを降格する、または
評価を下げる事です。」
